Tintagel Colombo

Tintagel Colombo has been around for a while but I never thought of visiting it or going there for dinner since it is so close to where I lived all my life. It has been the private resident of three political leaders (including the world's first female prime minister). Never thought so much of it till my sister and brother in law came down during the holidays and thought of trying the place out. I have seen so many great reviews of this place but yet it felt like not worth getting all dressed up and going down the road for dinner. How wrong I was as I would say Shanth Fernendo the proprietor has turned this place around so beautifully that I was so glad that I went and definitely will be going there more often. The food was great and the atmosphere outside and inside was just great! We sat outside as it was a very pleasant day. It is decorated very tastefully and I particularly love the pool area with the marvelous statues at the end of the pool. However, I would feel rather wired taking a swim in that pool. I did not get to visit the rooms but we were told there are 10 suites all different from each other. You can check their website by clicking on Tintagel Colombo on the top. The only complaint I have is that being a fine dining restaurant and a boutique hotel I felt their waiting staff should be a little more well trained. When we were seated at our table and there were some crumbs and a few grains of rice on the table. So I showed it to the waiter and to my horror he just took a cloth and dusted it to the ground without collecting it to a napkin!! I pointed it out to him and said that he should collect it without just dusting it to the ground and he had the audacity to turn around and say that it is only a few grains of rice!! So my rating of the place went from a 10 out of 10 to a 3 of 10 in this area as it put me off as I am very finicky about these things. However, the ambiance and the food was really great!
