31st night at Galle Face Hotel

Every year we celebrate our 31st night at the Galle Face Hotel. Well from the time I can remember as a teen to now. It is a great party with excellent atmosphere. Galle Face Hotel is right by the sea in the heart of Colombo which was built in 1864 and boasts of gorgeous Victorian architecture. Over the years it has been modified and renovated keeping the same theme. It is one of most gorgeous hotels in Colombo. The party is not organized by the hotel but by a private organization. Over the years the 31st night dance party has gained popularity and the main sponsor was Fashion TV.  Normally it is so packed the line to get in is so long and it is a painful wait. This year a similar party was organized in the pool side of Hilton Colombo so the crowd had split. We were first debating whether to try out the Hilton but just thought of sticking to Galle Face just because of the atmosphere. Therefore it was not overly crowded but full and as a result I enjoyed this year so much. The music and the light effects were great but nothing to beat the sound of the waves next to you. At midnight the fire work display from the beach was just out of this world. We had a nice crowd of ten at our table and enjoyed till dawn with a typical Sri Lankan breakfast. Many great parties have come and gone around town but I think this is one of the best yet.
